Job Title: Dental Compliance Manager

Job Summary:

The Dental Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring the practice adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards pertaining to dental and healthcare compliance. They oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of an effective compliance program, designed to minimize the practice's exposure to legal and regulatory risks. The Dental Compliance Manager also provides ongoing training and education to team members, ensuring they are well-versed in compliance requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive program, encompassing all areas of dental and healthcare compliance.
  • Conduct regular internal audits and assessments to identify potential compliance risks and areas for improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in laws, regulations, and industry standards related to dental compliance and inform the practice accordingly.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as finance, HR, and clinical operations, to ensure compliance is integrated into all aspects of the practice's operations.
  • Monitor and communicate changes in compliance requirements to team members, ensuring they understand and adhere to them.
  • Provide ongoing compliance training and education to team members, promoting a culture of compliance within the practice.
  • Investigate and address compliance-related complaints or issues from patients, team members, or regulatory authorities.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans when compliance violations occur and ensure appropriate measures are taken to prevent future occurrences.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of compliance-related activities, including audits, training, and investigations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, responding to inquiries, providing documentation, and facilitating inspections or audits.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in dental compliance, healthcare compliance, or a related field, preferably in a managerial role.
  • In-depth knowledge of dental compliance laws, regulations, and industry standards, including HIPAA, OSHA, and billing and coding requirements.
  • Strong understanding of dental practice operations and workflows, with the ability to identify compliance risks and implement appropriate preventive measures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to train and educate team members on compliance requirements effectively.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex compliance issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with team members, regulatory authorities, and legal counsel.
  • Proactive approach to compliance management, with the ability to anticipate and address potential compliance issues before they arise.
  • Professional certifications in dental or healthcare compliance (e.g., Certified Professional Compliance Officer) are desirable.
